Top Cycling Routes in Seoul (Part 3): “Han River Loop”

The Complete Guide (Haengju to Jamsil)

If you are looking for the definitive way to experience Seoul on two wheels (or two feet), the Han River Loop is a must-do. Spanning approximately 68 kilometers, this route takes you from the far west at Haengju Bridge to the eastern landmark of Jamsil Railway Bridge, offering a seamless journey through the city’s most iconic scenery.

Total Distance: Approx. 68km / Terrain: Almost 100% flat (paved paths)

Key Landmarks: Haengju Bridge, Mapo, Banpo, Jamsil Railway Bridge.

The Route Experience
The beauty of this course lies in its simplicity and accessibility. You’ll cross the river twice—once at Haengju Bridge and again at Jamsil Railway Bridge—creating a perfect oval loop.

What to Expect
Scenic Views: You’ll pass by lush parks, architectural bridges, and the Seoul skyline.

Amenities : Plenty of “Convenience Store Ramen” (Hangang Ramyeon) stops and clean restrooms along the way.

Accessibility : Entry points are everywhere, making it easy to start from wherever you are staying.

Whether you’re training for a ride or just wanting to see Seoul from a different perspective, this 68km loop is the gold standard of urban outdoor activity.

Rest Stops & Ramen Spots (Pit Stops)

1. Haengju Sanseong: The Noodle Mecca (West End)
The turning point at Haengju Bridge is famous among cyclists for “Wonjo Guksu” (Original Noodles).

Why go: You get a mountain-sized bowl of noodles for a very low price. It’s the ultimate carb-loading spot.

Recommended: Wonjo Guksu (원조국수) — Look for the sea of bicycles parked outside.

Cafe Option: Cafe Haengju Samgeori is a bike-friendly cafe with plenty of racks and affordable coffee.

2.Banpo Han River Park: The Iconic “Ban-mini”
Located at the southern end of Banpo Bridge (Jamsu Bridge).

Ramen Spot: The GS25 (Banpo 2nd Branch), affectionately called “Ban-mini” by locals.

The Experience: This is the most famous spot for “Hangang Ramyeon.” Grab a foil tray, choose your favorite instant noodles, and use the automated cooking machines. It’s a rite of passage for any Seoul cyclist.

3.Nodeul Island (Nodeulseom): A Scenic Oasis
A small island in the middle of Hangang Bridge.

Why go: It’s a cultural hub with a dedicated bicycle cafe and plenty of grassy areas to sit. It’s much quieter than Yeouido and offers a 360-degree view of the river.

“The Han River cycling path is a spectacular route offering breathtaking scenery across all four seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Whether you ride in the crisp morning air, under the midday sun, or amidst the glowing city lights at night, it’s an experience I highly recommend to every cyclist.”
